The best laptop for writers and artists is the one that provides an exceptional typing experience, amazing performance, and a beautiful display that supports touch and stylus input.

A laptop with all these traits is hard to find. Especially something that is better in all three departments.

So we took on the challenge of finding all the laptops that do good in these aspects.

So we compiled a list of the best laptops for writers and artists.

Though all of the laptops in the list have great keyboards and performance, not all of them have amazing displays.

This is because good color-accurate displays are usually only available on pricer premium laptops. So keep that in mind.

HP Spectre x360 16 2022 | Best All-Rounder Laptop for Writers and Artists

HP Envy 16 x360 2022

CPU: Core i712700H | GPU: ARC 3 A370M  | RAM: 16GB | Display: 16” 1920×1080 | Storage: 2TB SSD | Battery: 83Wh | OS: Windows 11

The HP Spectre X360 strikes the perfect balance between performance and practicality, making it one of the best all-rounder laptops for writers and artists.

To start off the Spectre has this premium angular chassis that sets it apart from regular boring office laptops. It also features an amazing snappy and satisfying keyboard that allows you to type on for hours.

The performance is also amazing, powerful enough to crunch through any video editing or rendering workload. And as for the screen, it’s bright and color accurate, making it great for color-accurate work. And since it comes with a stylus in the box, its also great for drawing or making stuff in Adobe Illustrator.

And the Spectre X360 would last the entire day with ease thanks to its 10 hours of battery backup on light use.

My only complaints with the Spectre x360 would be the soldered RAM, muddy speakers, and the heavy weight in tablet mode which makes it harder to handle. But for the most part, the Spectre x360 is an amazing machine for daily driving, and I am more than happy to recommend it.

Asus Zenbook Pro Duo 15 OLED UX582 | Best Performing laptop for Writers and Artists

Asus Zenbook Pro Duo OLE UX582

CPU: Core i9 12900H | GPU: RTX 3070ti | RAM: 32GB | Display: 15.6” 3840×2160 OLED | Storage: 1TB SSD | Battery: 92Wh | OS: Windows 11

If performance is all you care about and you want a maxed-out laptop, then the Asus Zenbook Pro Duo 15 OLED won’t disappoint you. The 12th gen core i9 and the RTX 3070ti make up for a strong pairing that can handle anything you throw at it.

You can be worry-free when working on the biggest video project in Premiere Pro or drawing illustrations in Adobe Illustrator. And apart from creative work, you can also game on it and comfortably run them at ultra settings.

And what makes the creative process fun on the Asus Zenbook Pro Duo 15 OLED is its color-accurate 100% DCI P3 dual OLED displays that make multi-tasking fun, and work a lot easier. Also, the speakers sound great and are quite detailed. All of this makes the Asus Zenbook Pro Duo 15 the best laptop for writers and artists.

As for the typing experience, the keys themselves are satisfying, however, since the keyboard is pushed down there’s no keyboard deck. So as long as you used the wrist rest that Asus gave you in the box, you should be fine.

Though where the Zenbook Pro Duo 15 really lacks is its poor battery life and lacks of a dedicated SD card reader, which is essential for Photographers.

Also, its questionable upgradability potential and the hefty price tag may make it a tough buy for some of you.

I go in-depth with the Asus Zenbook Pro Duo 15 OLED in its review. Read it here.

Lenovo Yoga 7i | Best Laptop for Writers and Artists with a great keyboard

Lenovo Yoga 7i

CPU: Core i51240u | GPU: Iris Xe Graphics | RAM: 8GB | Display: 16” 2560×1600 | Storage: 512GB SSD | Battery: 71Wh | OS: Windows 11

If you are looking for the best laptop for writers and artists that provides an exceptional typing experience, then you can’t go wrong with the Yoga 7i.

The Lenovo Yoga 7i’s keyboard feels spacious with the spaced-out big keys that make it easy to hit every key. What makes the keyboard on the Yoga 7i fun to type on is its satisfying tactile feedback. Though the keys feel shallow as you press them, they actuate quickly. This makes the keyboard quite feasible to type on for hours without fatiguing your fingers.

The performance is fairly good with the Core i5 holding up well in light to moderate rendering workloads. Though if you plan to work on bigger projects, then get the i7 version

The speakers also sound great with clear mids and highs and a noticeable emphasis on bass. And the webcam also got an upgrade with the 2022 model which now captures 1080p and produces a clear picture, perfect for those who take regular zoom meetings.

The 16:10 display is also remarkable on the Yoga 7i covering the entire sRGB color gamut while also getting decently bright at around 384 nits and supporting stylus input.

Unfortunately, the Yoga 7i does not come with a stylus in the box. Other annoyances about the Yoga 7i are the lack of upgradable RAM and heavy weight in tablet mode.

But if you are willing to ignore these minor annoyances, then the Yoga 7i will end up the best laptop for you. If you wish to learn more about Yoga 7i, you should check out our in-depth review.

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Gen1 | Best Chromebook Laptop for Writers and Artists

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook

CPU: Core i5 10210u | GPU: Intel UHD Graphics | RAM: 8GB | Display: 13.3” 3840×2160 | Storage: 256GB SSD | Battery: 49.2| OS: Chrome OS

The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook is unlike any Chromebook on the market. Among its stand-out features is its eye-catching red chassis that gives a premium look to something that is usually considered budget and cheap.

Along with the fiery red chassis, it has a top-notch overkill 4K OLED display. The 4K display is not only great for content creation but also amazing for watching TV shows and movies thanks to its great vibrancy and inky blacks. Also, the chassis has a slot for the S pen which works great with the display.

And though the 3-year-old Core i5 may put you off because of its age, it’s still plenty powerful for basic daily tasks. And the typing experience is also great with its clicky keys. Considering all this, the Galaxy Chromebook is one of the best laptops for Writers and Artists.

Do note that being a Chromebook it can not run Adobe Apps like Photoshop or Illustrator or Premiere Pro. So if you strictly plan to use those, you might want to pass on this one.

Also, its small battery fails to last the entire day which means the most you can get out of it is 6 hours. For context, Chromebook usually can last comfortably over 10 hours.

In any case, if you are willing to overlook these shortcomings, you would have a great time with the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • Beautiful display
  • Amazing design
  • Great performance
  • Comes with the S Pen
Cons
  • Battery life sucks
  • Can get really warm under a load
  • webcams are disappointing
  • Expensive for a Chromebook

Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5i | Best Budget Laptop for Writers and Artists

Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5i

CPU: Intel Core i3-1115G4| GPU: Intel HD Graphics | RAM: 8GB LPDDR4X  | Display: 13.3” 1920×1080 touch supported | Storage: 64GB SSD | Battery: 51Wh | OS: Chrome OS

If you are on a tight budget and can not afford to spend much on a laptop, then the Chromebook Flex 5i might be worth looking at.

Let’s discuss its shortcomings first. One of the biggest weaknesses of the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5i is its dim and washed-out display. You will not get a color-accurate display in this price range, so the colors look bland and washed out. Though the display still supports stylus input, so you can still work with it.

Another obvious weakness is since this laptop runs Chrome OS, you can not run Adobe Creative Apps on the Chromebook Flex 5i. And the storage also lacks a bit so you might need to buy an SD card for it.

Apart from this, the keyboard is quite fun to type on which makes it great for typing for hours. And the battery life is also passable, lasting around 9 hours at best.

And the performance is also decent for basic tasks like word processing and browsing the web which makes it great for casual use. This makes it a great budget laptop for writers and artists who want a decent budget laptop.

  • SSD storage instead of eMMC
  • Decent battery life

Asus Zenbook Flip 13 OLED | Best Laptop for Writers and Artists with a beautiful display

Asus Zenbook Flip 13 OLED

CPU: Intel Core i7-1165G7| GPU: Iris Xe Graphics | RAM: 16GB DDR4  | Display: 13.3” 1920×1080 touch supported | Storage: 1TB SSD | Battery: 67Wh | OS: Windows 11

The Zenbook Flip 13 is a traditional convertible laptop that checks a lot of boxes for the best laptop for writers and artists.

It has an OLED display that makes content consumption and content creation quite fun. Though it supports stylus input, it does not come with a stylus in the box. The performance is pretty great even though the i5 processor is 2 years old. You can easily work on small to moderate projects on Adobe Illustrator or Premiere Pro.

The battery life is also quite good, lasting around 10 hours with ease with light use. The keyboard is also nice, with keys that have a nice grippy texture, though the key’s feedback is not that satisfying. Also, the layout of the keys feels a bit cramped.

One thing that annoyed me about the Zenbook Flip 13 is the lack of a dedicated headphone jack which is absurd and lacks of upgradable RAM.

But if you are willing to deal with these minor annoyances, you would be more than satisfied with the Zenbook Flip 13.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • Great display
  • Capable CPU
  • Decent battery life
  • Stylus support
Cons
  • RAM is not upgradable
  • Lacks a headphone jack
  • Keyboard is a bit cramped

HP Envy 15 2022 | Best Office Laptop for Writers and Artists

HP Envy 15 2022

CPU: Core i7 1255u | GPU: Iris Xe Graphics | RAM: 16GB | Display: 15.6” 1920×1080 | Storage: 1TB SSD | Battery: N/A | OS: Windows 11

If you want a laptop that has the classic office aesthetic while also carrying considerable power under the hood then the Envy 15 won’t disappoint you.

Despite having a basic white finish, the metal chassis gives the Envy 14 a premium feel.

Writers would also enjoy using the Envy 15 keyboard as it provides nice tactile feedback with decent travel, allowing you to type fairly quickly. And the right amount of spacing between keys makes it easy to hit each key correctly.

I find the Core i7 1255u to be a pretty capable processor for working on small to medium projects, and occasionally, you can also work with bigger and denser projects on Premiere Pro or Adobe Illustrator.

The battery life is also great and it will also last you an entire day for around 10 hours on a single charge.  Considering all of this the Envy 15 ends up being one of the best laptops to buy for writing and creative work.

Though it’s quite certain that the ENVY 15 is not a laptop without its flaws. To start off the webcam on it is poor, with grainy quality making you unpresentable in a professional zoom meeting.

Secondly, the display is disappointing with its washed-out colors and poor color accuracy. Also, it does not come with a stylus in the box so that’s something you would have to buy separately.

And sadly, it follows in the footsteps of other laptops by lacking upgradable RAM.

As long as these shortcomings don’t affect you, you would be fine with the Envy 15.

You can read our detailed review about it if you want to learn more.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • Premium metal chassis
  • The keyboard has amazing feedback
  • Good performance
  • Great battery life
Cons
